Bayern Munich Disgrace Barcelona 2-8

German champions Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona in their quarter-final match in the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern Munich sailed to this season’s Champions League semi-final with a 2-8 loss to Barcelona at the Estadio da Luz on Friday night, 14 August 2020.

With a goal from Muller the German club took the lead in the 4th minute. The match squared in the 7th minute, when David Alaba scored his own goal.

Yet Ivan Perisic once more brought Bayern Munich ahead in the 21st minute, with Gnabry in the 27th minute rendering the scoreline 1-3 in favor of Bayern.

In the 31st minute, Muller scored his second of the game, sending Bayern Munich to a 1-4 lead at halftime.

As Luiz Suarez scored for Barcelona, Bayern had their three goals lead reduced in the 57th minute.

Yet Alphonso Davies, a brilliant run and assistance from Liberian-born Canadian international, increased Bayern’s score to 2-5 as J. It was Kimmich who scored.

For this season, Robert Lewandowski increased his Champions League goals to 14, as he scored in the 82nd minute against Barcelona.

Philippe Coutinho, within about four minutes (85th minute, 89th minute) scored his brace for Bayern Munich.

All teams have joined the game in recent years with outstanding record in the Champions League, making it extremely impossible for soccer fans to predict comfortably which of the two sides will advance to the Semi-finals.

For Barcelona, the match tonight marked their 13th consecutive year they are in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals – ensuring they have reached the quarter-finals for every season since the 2007/08 season.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich both had sailed to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for the 18th time (in 24 and 23 appearances respectively). That’s more than any other League player.

The Estadio da Luz match happens to be the first UEFA Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Barcelona since 2014/15, when Barcelona managed to knock out Bayern Munich in the semifinal.

Barcelona has played more matches against Munich in the Champions League than any other Club, losing five of their eight matches against Bayern Munich (won 2; drew one).

Having secured their eight UEFA Champions League games for the 2019/2020 season, Bayern Munich are reigning German Champions and are heading into quarter-finals in an excellent form.
