The newly elected President of the Central Regional House of  Chiefs, Odeafu Amoakwa Buadu VIII, has showered his blessings on Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party for victory in the coming December general elections.

Odeafuo Amoakwa Boadu (VIII), who is the Paramount of the Breman Traditional Area, gratefully gave his blessings when the Running Mate called on him and his sub-chiefs at Breman Asikuma in the Central region on Wednesday, to congratulate him shortly after his election.

Delighted that the NDC Running Mate is the first personality to visit the palace to congratulate him on his elevation, he prayed for Prof. Opoku-Agyemang and the NDC to also witness similar success in the quest to win political power.

“I thank you for the respect you have shown us in first consulting us in developing your manifesto and also coming to congratulate us.

“I grant you all the blessings you need,” he said amidst wild jubilation among the large crowd of residents gathered in and around the palace.

He called for peaceful elections to ensure unity and progress and cautioned Ghanaians against taking the current national peace for granted.

“We should not take the peace we are enjoying for granted. We have to continue to work at sustaining it,” he advised.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, congratulating the Paramount Chief, described his elevation as a result of his exemplary leadership and contribution to national development.

In the same vein, she gave the assurance that the NDC, under the leadership of President Mahama, would offer quality leadership for meaningful national progress.

Expressing appreciation for the support from Odeafuo Amoakwa Buadu and his sub-chiefs, she assured them that they can continue to repose their trust in the NDC to do what is needed for the rapid development of the Country.

“We shall offer quality leadership that will prioritize the interests of the people. A leadership that is sincere to admit a shortfall and make amends,” she stressed.

Hon Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, National Chairman of the NDC, for his part, reminded the Chiefs of the need to support Prof Opoku-Agyemang, an indigene of the area, to become Vice President to actively partner President Mahama to rebuild the Country.

He invited the Chiefs and people of the area to join the NDC in making history for Ghana to get the first female Vice President.

“The NDC has a long history of securing its Vice Presidents from Central Region, which has made the region to become central to the NDC.

“History is going to repeat itself in a special way,” he said.

Other dignitaries accompanying the Running Mate to the Breman State palace were Hon Alex Segbefia, Mrs. Mawuena Adzo Trebarh, Hon Lawyer EKT Addo, Hon Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Hon Alhaji Alhassan Kobina Ghansah, Hon Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, Hon Samuel Adom Botchway, Hon Albert Inkoom, Mr. Harry Yamson, Chairman George Ofori Nuako, and his hardworking Executives.
