The Electoral Commission ( EC) lied when it declared that it had started paying its temporary workers for the work of registering voters.
On 25 September, the Electoral Management Board’s statement confirmed that the Commission had started paying temporary officers who had been used for the registration exercise.
The Commission announced that it will conclude the payments by the end of Thursday 1st October.
However, as of October 2 today, some officers who spoke to mynewsgh.com on condition of strict confidentiality said that, contrary to the announcement released, the Electoral Commission refused to pay them their money.
It is a concern to them that the Body, which is expected to take its reputation seriously, would be misleading to the nation to allow payments if they do not.
It is not obvious whether an announcement would be released by the Electoral Commission because they are aware that they have not received money because of their temporary workers.
