Francis Asenso-Boakye, Deputy Chief of Staff at the presidency and NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Bantama constituency, has appealed to Bantama residents to vote massively for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP to fulfill their promises made in the 2016 elections.
He made this clarion call when he held a sod-cutting ceremony to begin the construction of roads in the Kokoso-Asuboteng region within the Bantama constituency.
Speaking to the community leaders at Kokoso in Kumasi on Thursday, Mr. Asenso-Boakye reiterated the determination of the Government to provide socio-economic services throughout the country, including the Ashanti region, saying “We have shown that the NPP government has the best interests of the Ashanti region at heart, and we will do more to alleviate the plight of the Ashanti region.
“In 2016, when candidate Nana Akufo-Addo vowed to introduce his flagship projects, such as the Free SHS, One District One Plant, and others, the NDC and John Mahama said they will not be able to fulfill them, but today we are all witnessing the fulfillment of those initiatives that brought immense relief to all Ghanaians. So if we gave Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP 88 percent of the total votes here in Bantama in 2016, I think it’s fair to say that in 2020 he deserves 95 percent of the votes to fulfill all the promises made to us in 2016, “he said to loud applause.
“The value of good roads extends to all aspects of our communities’ growth, as it contributes, among other things, to the provision of employment, access to health care and education services. This path would have been long overdue if the NPP had won in 2008 but it was ignored by the previous NDC administration. Today, we all bear witness to President Akufo-Addo ‘s progressive leadership leading the introduction of Free SHS scheme, Planting for Food and Jobs, One District, One Factory; and, among other items, the establishment of a vehicle assembly plant by car giant VW in Ghana, “he added.
Minister for Roads and Highways for his part, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta, who was a special guest of honor at the ceremony, said, “The development of the whole region of Ashanti, especially Kumasi and its surroundings, is dear to President Akufo-Addo and his government. The ceremony today shows the Government’s dedication to improving the quality of all road networks in Kumasi and the country as a whole.
The Minister also announced that there are currently many road networks under construction in all 275 constituencies in Ghana. “Out of the country’s total 80,000 km road networks, when the NPP took office in January 2017, just 23 percent had seen any development. But I can confidently say there are ongoing roadbuilding in all the country’s 260 district assemblies, “he disclosed.
Alderman Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi has called on all Kumasi residents to help the government to bring more development to the city.
Parliament’s sitting MP for the town, Hon. Daniel Okyem Aboagye who was there to support the operation called on all his supporters to unite behind the party’s new parliamentary candidate to win victory in the upcoming general election.
