Popular Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has endorsed the Akufo-Addo government for a second term, saying that Ghanaians will benefit more under the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) than under the National Democratic Congress ( NDC).
According to the Actor, a contrast between the former NDC government and the new NPP indicates that Ghana is on course for ‘greater things ahead’ under the present administration.
“… Looking at some of the mechanisms that have been placed in place under this administration, I believe that going forward, Ghanaians are coming to enjoy – not all that rosy, but I believe that going forward, Ghana is going to enjoy this administration,” he told blogger THATCELEBRITY.COM.
Prince David Osei said that he believes that whatever the administration of Akufo-Addo has begun needs to be extended beyond four years, and he will suggest that they be granted a second term to continue their good work.
His comment comes at a time when his contemporary, John Dumelo, is running for Parliament on the NDC ticket to Ayawaso West Wuogon, and his senior colleague Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokono) has expressed disappointment in the NPP government.
According to him, the custom of voting out a government after its first four years is stifling growth and dragging the country back so that it can be discouraged.
“Let’s say you ‘re throwing out the NPP after four years — Maham ‘s coming back to power — he’s possibly going to take two years to reshape and try and understand what went wrong — every time we ‘re going back — we need to step forward,” he said.
He thinks that in eight years, the NPP would have done a lot and could be booted out if the Ghanaians so wished, but four years is just too short to grant the NPP another four-year term.
For the actor, Ghana will be better off getting a ‘workbook,’ which will give each party at least 10 years in power with a clear development agenda in mind that would be compulsory for the next government to start.
