DCOP Afful Boakye-Yiadom, the Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Force, advised police officers around the world to reduce their sex drive ahead of the December general elections this year.
He clarified that in the electioneering season, this will provide officers the requisite resources to conduct their police operations.
After a route march coordinated by the police service on Monday 21 September 2020, DCOP Boakye-Yiadom addressed a group of police officers and said: “Monitor yourself.”
“During the referendum, we all need the motivation to function.
“Therefore, I urge both of you to eat good, reduce your sexual rounds before, after, and after the 2020 elections to get the capacity to function well.”
The goal of the road march was to inform the public of the preparation of the police before the polls.
The police marched along several of Accra’s major avenues.
DCOP Kwaku Boadu-Peprah, Director-General for Operations of the Ghanaian Police Force, also cautioned police officers against participating in divisive political activity in the run-up to the polls.
You are not allowed to be active in any political action as a policeman.
You can do that only by entering the polling station, where you can practice your strength.
“When it’s time for the referendum, we all go out there and do our obligation, because we help the government of the day at the end of it, whatever comes to power, that’s none of our concern,” he said.
